The book or the movie?

I'm interested in how you view the plot of the movie in relation to the book. Did actors did a good job playing their parts? Should the movie have followed the storyline of the book or is it better this way?

I think they couldn't have found better actors to play the part of Lestat and Louis. Alright, maybe even Claudia. The only thing I couldn't get my head around is getting Antonio Banderas for Armand...They never did seem to hit the spot with Armand's actor, here or in QOTD, I very much dislike both actors (only in these two movies). Kirsten Dunst was, I have to say, remarkably skilled and played her role well...but if they were to make a remake of the movie, I'd very much like to see Alakina Mann in the role of Claudia. As for our two favourite vampires, I still can't imagine anyone playing their part other than Cruise and Pitt.

I'm not sure about the storyline, I have to admit. I guess they had to improvise and experiment to make it fit the running time, but maybe they changed it too much. There are a lot of parts from the book that I would have loved to see in the movie, but weren't chosen. I'm curious, what parts of the book would you like to see in the movie, that already aren't there? What changes would you do?

Actors.... well... to this day I don't agree with Tom Cruise playing Lestat. He's.... short and... not that beautiful (no matter how hard the make-up crew tried) Yes, yes... Shoot the Stuart Townsend supporter but I can't stand Mr. Cruise.
Brad Pitt... that's another story... not quite as Louis physically but he did a great job.
Kristen Dunst... I love her, she was absolutely wonderful.. there is that particular scene when she lays near the two boys on the couch which is pure gold.

Oh, Disco Stu. God, I absolutely hate him as an actor and even more in the role of Lestat.

...I'd definitely go for the book
...I too hated Tom Cruise as Lestat. On the other hand Stuart was remarkable, despite his disco look Smile The only actor that I truely liked in Interviw with a vampire was Kirsten Dunst as Claudia, from my point of view, she was just perfect.

Stuart...better than Cruise? The entire QOTD was less than mediocre. A travesty. IWTV movie, on the other hand, managed to show the emotions of the book almost flawlessly.

I can't stand Cruise, but I can't help but accept him as perfect in that particular role. Pitt did pretty well in my opinion too.

As for the QOTD movie and it's actors...well in my mind it doesn't even exist in terms of the books.

I'd always choose a book over a movie, no matter how good the movie was.

I saw no real emotion... moving emotion... in Mrs. Cruise....

And Stu showed emotion? He looked like he was constantly having an epileptic seizure. They ought to make new movies, both IWTV and QOTD

(oprah incident and all else aside) I very much liked Tom Cruise as Lestat. As well as the actors for other characters, Louis and Claudia. Even when portraying Lestat in Louis's point of view, there were moments in the movie where Lestat's emotions came through, subtle as they were.
As for the actor choice for Armand, I too didn't understand it. I do like Antonio Banderas, but it completely changes what Armand is best known as.

They didn't get Armand right in both IWTV and QOTD
